Besties..

This morning was the latest I have started my run and it was still before 6am. But Rusty is a hard task master -haha.

The sun was glorious and the sky was incredibly clear after all the rain and minimal Joburg traffic. I decided to venture out of the estate to check out the small dams and for Rusty to have different smells. There's some lovely bridges and the short route was mostly pavement too. I wish I could run with my camera because there was a great photo op of a mother goose and 8 goslings that were crossing the waterfall with just the right light behind... but you will have to just read this photo.

My high school bestie, who organized this housesitting and who lives in the estate invited me to lunch and we went to a nearby shopping complex where we had a delicious salad with camembert cheese in light phyllo pastry, with prunes and leafy greens. It was a wonderful meal and afterwards I wanted to see the view from the end of the shopping complex. Years ago we ran a race here and I haven't returned because I remembered a brutal hill at the finish. The hill is still there, lol.

The sunshine stayed bright and crisp until it was time to take Rusty to his playground. Big plops of rain started falling but it stayed sparse enough to not ruin our walk. Sadly his buddy stood him up and the other dogs in the park didn't want to play. He did chase a bird or two and for the first time they started swooping on me. My latent bird phobia almost kicked in thanks to Alfred Hitchcock and his 'birds' horror movie. But fortunately I have a furry bodyguard.
