Bennie, Jeanette and Harry walk to Ghandi Square

Saturday 2 April 2022 At 3am I woke up. But really awake.  I'd been dreaming of my late sister and lots of cash and I couldn't get back to sleep.  I dared not think of my tour and the characters, so thought of every single other possible thing instead.  The thing with stress, is that often I don't know that I have it until it's gone. So this early morning insomnia, I am putting down to stress. I took my time unbundling out of bed and packing and eventually I sat in the hotel restaurant with my breakfast, wifi and notes until it was time to leave for the tour. I chatted to the resident barber who was such a darling but I forgot to use any of the garnered information in my barber character.

I was expecting a small amount of people on the tour, because I ignored the emailed exel spreadsheet (we aren't friends) and focused on the old style form where 6 people had confirmed.  I was completely surprised when Dave told me that over 40 were attending! My 4am eyes suddenly flew open and I had a moments hesitation about doing my characters 'live'. I'm used to speaking solo to my camera or 'Facebook live' audience but here I was with instant feedback.  I did say to myself this week, that I wanted to resume my public speaking side of my career.  This time though, I was wearing a moustache and a wig.

The crowd arrived and suddenly I was standing on a block welcoming the crowd as Katryn Kwarrentyn.  The  afternoon flew by as I whipped my wig, shirt and moustache off and donned my bank robber gear. The weather stayed cool, which was great for any possible head sweating, and I remembered most of the stuff I wanted to share. I wasn't sure what accents to give my three 'new' personalities but I wanted them all to sound different.  Seeing Dave's smiling face in the crowd was great encouragement and lo and behold, a school leaver colleague, was in the crowd. Almost 40 years later and he comes up to me as I'm pulling off my moustache.  I was convinced that I was unrecognizable haha.

I loved the whole experience and I hope the people enjoyed it too. They seemed to. I like the idea of making history a little more alive and if I could remember specific dates time, that would help. Lol!
