Being Bold

4 weeks ago I was told that I was on a shortlist to win the use of the Isuzu MU-X car for three months. I'd entered a video competition on LM Radio, stating why I should be considered as being Bold enough to win.

The truth is, I am not naturally Bold. In fact when it comes to driving, I have always been rather timid. In a way, entering this competition has made me bolder. And the great thing about winning is that it is a fabulous pep-me-up every time I look at it.

I've also realised that driving a bigger, stronger car does make me feel Bold. I've always driven smaller cars that need driving, as in no power steering and small engines. Have you ever tried to park an Opel Corsa? Haha! This car almost drives itself and I am very high in my seat. Although it's a lot longer than my Smart car, I'm getting used to turning corners slowly.

Today I was wanting to continue planning my road trip which I start mid January. I had my paper map book open and the first thing I realised is that Mossel Bay is not where I thought it was. It's been over two decades since I have been down in that part of the world and I suddenly felt overwhelmed. I shut the map book and thought I will start planning again next year- ie this weekend.

Tonight I am turning this corner-slowly.
