Animals celebrate.

Sunday 1st January 2023

That's the first time I've written the new year number outside of a greeting! A new month, year, day all being celebrated.  I had my own celebration of sleeping through till 5am! I don't know if there were any fireworks because I didn't hear them and Rusty didn't wake me up either. But he was waiting outside the door when I needed to get to the loo. The sky was completely gray when I opened the curtains so I managed to pad out another half hour before Rusty totally convinced me to get up.

Running round the dam again I was surprised to see both Gautrains rumble past- on a public holiday! There were some signs of new year revellers left behind on the pavement I was too slow to spot a bone which Rusty gulped down.  He found another one on the run but he was very obedient when I sternly told him to drop it and I kicked it away.  Once back inside the wilder park he was running offlead. He reminds me of Scooby-Doo at times when he flops back mid-run. I did manage to film him once back from our afternoon walk.

My day was another mellow one, with series and social media all spreading the cheer of the new year. While on the couch,  Chutney the cat, was staying very close by. It was rather chilly so I did have a light blanket over me and the purring just added to the mellow.  I  think my body has relished this time to simply be, couch surfing is just as important as traveling. Although I'm getting a lot of 'steps' in exercising Rusty, plus it's giving me more insight into the world of dogs,  lol. Sleep,  eat, run, wag, repeat.  Yup, good life goals.
