Waking up early to the gentle dawn over the airport immediately put a smile on my face. The bump on my leg had gone down but some bruising showed up. I watched as the small privately owned civil airport woke up slowlyon this Worker's day holiday. It was the first international Airport in the area before the bigger planes arrived needing longer runways.
I love that there's still so much activity going on but it keeps it's small town feel. The Art deco buildings are just wonderful and today I spotted a different one which is now home to a flying school. I made a short video about the information I found out. It was so exciting to see 'new' old buildings and I was very busy filming everywhere.
I had to visit the excellent Aviation Museum run by passionate volunteers. There's something so exciting seeing these beautiful big beasts, even though I know they are going nowhere, but the stories they could tell...
I still marvel at these massive Jumbos flying so graciously while weighing tons of material. I'm also still convinced that our Boeing, Lebombo, that brought us here in 1971 is parked there and I walked through it again. Those videos aren't edited yet, but they will be.
I took my guide course paperwork out of my car, but haven't touched it at all because I have been too busy watching out the window lol.
