Today was confusing for me. I kept looking at my watch to see what day it is, because I couldn't lock in on it all. Rusty scratched my alarm clock door just after 5 and we set off on an easy pace round the estate. I enjoy the quiet hour before the world wakes up, the birds are busy and the security team changes at the gate while myself and the other early runner are now smiling at each other.
I had an early breakfast meeting with two dear friends and it was one of those meetings were each of us knew another patron individually. We laughed at the 'small world' feeling and promised to see each other soon.
I decided to drive to the heritage buildings in the area and I was fortunate to get inside the Franz Hoenig House, who was the first Dynamite Factory company's manager. I'd seen the outside of the building several times but I convinced the museum curator to allow me inside. What a treat. High ceilings, fireplaces, wooden floors all carefully renovated after falling into decay around 1971. It was saved from demolition and I'm so glad it was. It's available for private hire for functions and weddings and it's really in a great condition. For more information you can click here.
After whizzing through the interior because the curator had to return to the other museum, I walked around the huge porch and took more pictures. The weather started building up so I didn't stay as long as I would have liked but I was in time to be able to have an afternoon nap.
There was a huge cloudburst and Rusty and I managed to sneak a 15 minute walk in between rain. After joining my school friend up the road for a lovely dinner I drove back for the first time in the dark this year.
