What a surprise Aberdeen has turned out to be. So many nice buildings and lovely weather not to mention seeing cousins and Aunt and Uncle. It was a really busy day.
I started out looking for a breakfast mid morning but I got distracted with all the monuments, churches and a graveyard. I ended up at a modern mall for a latte before finding the oldest surviving townhouse in the city, Provost Skene who was Sir George Skene (1619-1708). It is really interesting because they have many modern references to sporting people, important people, writers and Annie Lennox who all come from this area.
The great thing about Council run museums in Scotland is that entry is free so I then popped into the Maritime Museum. It is fascinating to see the people behind the history of such a hard living of fishing. It seemed fitting that my cousin took me to the harbour to spot dolphins but ended up at a fancy funky fish restaurant instead.
Then we visited my mum's youngest sister which was fascinating. Seeing her mannerisms and older face jolted me a little initially, because it was all so familiar. We took her dogs for a walk in the great weather and was shown the new school academy from the distance. A roast chicken dinner symbolically replacing all the missed Christmases and special events, was dished up and it was great to join some of the dots from all the in-between years.
Life goes quickly and magically. I'm loving it.
