Abby road

Thursday 23rd June 2022

I woke 'day brain' up at 3am. I didn't mean to, I just started think about 'day' things. It's light at that time and the crows are already chirping each other.  So I tossed and turned until I heard my sister in law get up just after 4. It was the cue my body needed and I slept longer.

I decided I'd take my time and have an admin day that I've been promising as my brother left to go hill walking just after 7am. He invited me to join but I don't have the best track record of walking on Delta Park in Johannesburg and that didn't involve any Monroes- which is what they call hills over 1000m here.

I went for a run around 11 and was surprised by how humid it felt. I found a small park with a dam and customary swans with their 3 babies.  As I was spitting out some midgies, which are like miggies but more stubborn I realised that nothing is familiar and it didn't stress me out at all.

I'm not embracing change

I'm observing it.

Which is far healthier for me right now.

I changed my plans and suddenly had an urge to go see the local Abby. I made it for the last 30 minutes of it's opening times and found myself chatting with a Captonian Brit living in Scotland.  Eventually I was being ushered out after only a quick squizz around the stunning building. I will plan a longer visit next time.

I was taking no chances of walking back up those monster slopes, so got myself on the bus back to my brother's.
