A wandering

Wednesday 13th July 2022

I didn't know what time I was supposed to be at work until I woke up because my colleague had messaged me late last night I'd decided to leave early and get breakfast on site, so I wasn't rushing.

I don't travel with a hairdryer so this morning I had my hair styled by St Andrews gusts, on my pleasant walk. I found a labyrinth which I started walking on the outside loop and remembered my full labyrinth in Bloemfontein.  Unfortunately my mind got the better of me and I stepped off after only doing the outer loop. The town is buzzing and I am just being swept up in it  so decided to just let my mind keep buzzing.

As I approached the golf course, the crowds were already showing up in their fancy regalia and posh hats. I did enjoy getting ushered through the 'staff' entrance though and feeling like a VIP. I'm amazed at the amount of people that travel here for this tournament. Americans and Asians mingle with the broad brogue of the locals and there's a lovely air of festivities.  It reminded me of the San Fermin in Pamplona, which has this happy build up. I laughed at the idea that English people have sports events instead of town festivals.

My work day was steadily busy apart from a flurry of people all showing up at the same time for their equipment.  But it settled down into testing and finding the right headphones for the wrong walkie-talkies. I felt quite relaxed today at work,  possibly because it is feeling more familiar. I do have a 6am call time so am going to sleep right now! Gnite.
