I'm feeling so honoured to be in people's homes and see how they live and deal with day to day life. Today we went to the supermarket in light drizzle and stepped out of the store into sunshine.
After putting the groceries in the boot, Sharon wanted to show me the sea that was right behind a big grey wall. We walked up the stairs and it felt like a
'pow'.
There was this bay.
My jaw dropped and then she told me about the cycle path, the Sheerness Way, that winds all the way along. I knew I had to walk it. She drove the groceries away and I went back into the store, to get some water and snacks.
Outside, I sat on the bench in the sun beside an elderly couple and two other business men chit chatting and I drank my fizzy water with a smile. The gulls came near to check on possible tidbits and I listened to the small waves lap at the pebbly shore.
I started my watch and my walk and looked around in amazement. The 'scruffy area' that Sharon was complaining about was interesting with harbour look out buildings, church, residences, kid play area, commemorative benches, warning signs, mobile homes, cars, yacht yard, gym equipment, caravan parks, and a closed up sweet shop.
The sea looked stunning and I just marvelled at the opportunity to be in this place right now. Dogs and their walkers bounded by, some happy to have taken a dip, others just glad to be out walking. The film crew were still on site for the 'Silent Witness' series but it looked like they were filming interior shots so didn't see any of the actors today.
I made my way past the seaside cabins snd turned up the rather steep hill and stairs pausing half way to catch my breath and take in the view from a high angle. Just magic.
