I was so excited about my new bnb that after waking at 4.15am I couldn't get back to sleep. Eventually I managed to take the sunrise picture and suddenly I wanted sleep again. But instead I managed to get a whole lot of admin, bills paid and research before taking a walk up to the main street.
I wish I had kept better notes of all my different accommodation over the years. I took thousands of photos on the Camino but very few of the hostels interiors. In the years of my travels with my TV job I didn't think of taking any pictures of rooms being non digital cameras. Film was expensive to develop but I do have a twinge of regret because I can hardly remember the detail.
It was a lovely morning and I loved seeing the tops of unusual houses peeking out over the typical high walls of Johannesburg. It really feels like a different city as I do this suburb exploration. I have lived on the west side for all of my adult life and I had always loved it. In my traveling years I couldn't wait to get back to my own bed, own dogs and home. My husband and I moved into our starter home and we never moved. My resistance to change was very strong and that is why this nomadic lifestyle is unusual for both myself and those who have known me for years.
I met up with a dear friend who loves this suburb of Parkhurst and we shared an hour of chat and drink before I made it back to catch the sunset. A lovely ending to a day with good news with the lump removed from my wrist being harmless.
