Friday the Good 15th April 2022
My body wasn't too confused on waking this morning even though it was in the 117th foreign bed of this year. My head however tried to figure out the day and what event was lined up. First things first, I decided to go for a run. I was busy getting ready and I had that sneaky feeling of being watched. The schnauzers had come down to see if I was awake.
It was a perfect sunny morning for a run around the (new) neighbourhood. The area is extremely quiet and I think today being a public holiday was the reason. I turned a corner and ran into the yummy smell of cinnamon and hot cross buns and remembered that it was Good Friday. This used to be a very somber day in my childhood home. A verrrrrry long Church Mass which we had to attend and then another one on Sunday was quite a burden for this busy young lass. Fortunately the promise of Easter eggs after the Sunday service kept me from complaining out loud. Plus, it also meant that Dad would be happy again because his 'dry' six weeks of no beer, ended with Lent finally over. Running spits out these memories and ideas while admiring the different birds along different park areas. I still get surprised by the different areas of Johannesburg with these secret pockets of quiet calm dotted around the city. I love exploring my world on foot, just a pity that sometimes I have to get out of bed to do it, lol!
