I left Johannesburg around 1pm on Wednesday. Today just after 5, I found my accommodation in Durban.
I know regular drivers do the trip in 6 hours. I recalled the early pioneers with their ox wagons and felt relieved that my car had an engine(albeit a small one) I caught myself gasping on the twist and turns over the valleys and hills. I'm not sure if it just because of the unfamiliar roads but the local drivers seemed worse than inland. But in saying that I am here.
At the sea.
For a few months.
Although I only had an hour long drive today (if there had been no roadworks nor truck traffic jams), it took me the whole day. As I popped in at some of my some dear friends who had moved here five years ago.
My 5pm arrival had my bnb hostess meet me and show me the ropes. I have left half of my luggage in my car overnight. Because I have been on the move the last few days, my brain is still saying 'where to tomorrow?' I have to keep consciously slowing down and remind myself that this is me - for now.
In saying that, I have just spent the better part of two hours casually looking for my next stay for next month. I have enquired about my first walking tour on Monday but for now ( and tomorrow) it's feet up and relax.
