Hugg

Sunday 12th November 2023

My great nephew stayed overnight at my sister (his Grandma), and it was nice having the tall youngster in the space. I enjoy observing the different interactions and watching him move through life. Of course my Facebook memories must have known this, so the appropriate pictures popped up of their first visit to South Africa. My niece is doing such a fabulous job at this child raising business, mostly on her own. I'm in awe every time I see them.

The day was a nesting one, with cups of coffee and chatting. A day of family silent moments which are always comfortable too. I'm fortunate to have such a wide variety of branches on my family tree.

The furthest I walked today was up and down the stairs. The cold weather leads to hibernation and I have avoided full winters for a couple of years now. But there is a good side of the season in order to nest, and rest. Hygge is an excellent way to explain winters..."a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture)."

In a way, my avoidance of cold winters has stopped me from experiencing the natural cycle of slow down. So a day like this charges up my battery for my next London adventure, where I'm headed tomorrow. A short trip but some loose ends need tying.

Next up, more hygge in 'my' comfy bed, tomorrow it's my friend's couch, lol.
