Lots of rain fell throughout the night with some thunder in between and when I woke properly at 6am, it was pouring down. The breeze was icy due to recent snowfalls on the mountains, some 300km away and Johannesburg has a high altitude so the wind chill factor drops the temperature dramatically. I lay in bed thinking about the likelihood of the weather changing for the better but it just felt bleak. So I decided to call off a personal tour that I was going to do for my friend's daughter. The Smartie doesn't handle the rain well and I get panicky when I can't see. Cancelling meant that I had a day to pack.
I'm still not much better off suitcase wise, because now my clothes are trying to dry on a clothes horse, but I did sort out a large portion of my bathroom bags and vitamins. It looks like I could open up my own vitamin supply chain with what I didn't finish last year, so I'm getting more discerning on what I actually use and what are 'comfort' vitamins.
On an impulsive notion, I dashed out to the local mall for a computer cable and ended up buying a bra instead. Yes, that’s how scattered my brain felt today. Plus, I left my phone under my vanity bags on the bed so panicked when I reached for it to get a loyalty card on the app, in a store. I was rather amused at how strange it felt not having it but after a while it felt quite normal.
This evening, my running friends came over for a bon voyage pizza. It was great hearing about all the doings and I feel really grateful to have these ladies' friendship. Loadshedding cut the party short, plus we were all freezing so came to bed after I convinced a massive rain spider to leave my sister's bathroom, by using a long feather duster. She's been teasing my sister for a few days now, so it was comforting closing the windows on her and hoped she finds a different welcoming home far away. Much like I am doing on Wednesday, hopefully my jumbo jet doesn't need coaxing with any feather dusters though!
