Sunshine.
How nice to feel the heat at 6am. I went out early for my run to beat both the heat and traffic. I also wanted to see the presidential residence nearby. There were just a few steep hills around my short block. It was nice to see fellow runners, dog walkers and the resident monkeys. I am still amazed at how they know how to open windows, and go through human rubbish bins to find their breakfast.
I got back to my bnb and soaked my feet in the swimming pool marveling at how warm it felt. As I moved a light chair back under the desk my back took a sudden spasm and I was stuck.
Panic and pain in an instant.
I hobbled over to a low flat surface and tried to lift my legs to unlock the spasm. Frustrated, I somehow got myself to my ringing phone and a sympathetic friend.
Of course, traveling light meant that all my lotions and potions were left behind in Johannesburg so I made do with a compral. I also always consider what emotions could contribute to my condition and I suppose the loss of the remaining parental might be scary for my body.
The siblings arrived after much trials and hiccups on their trans Hemisphere journey and we were all lamenting our aches and pains. Tomorrow, I am delivering the eulogy for the small funeral for the patriarch of the family. Hopefully my back will feel better in the morning.
